THE YALTA GAME - WEB III
18 min HD Film
3 screen installation, 2019
Metal, latex, cord, fishing wire, 3 projectors, headphones
A three-screen installation that examines the layers of performance and idolisation in female friendship. In response to Brian Friel’s play The Yalta Game (2001), Carten deconstructs her drama short film Wishbone (2018). The work makes visible in an installation how the apparent boundaries of truth and fiction, the authentic and inauthentic, oscillate in memory - tracing the performances of a self.
